Best-ball team events for PGA Professionals
will be played at five Orlando-area courses
prior to the PGA Merchandise Show
PGA Professionals who want to mix business and pleasure during the
2009 PGA Merchandise Show will be able to tee it up at some of the
Orlando area’s top courses as part of the fifth annual Pro-Pro Series.
Presented by PGA Magazine, the Pro-Pro Series provides PGA Professionals
with a fun and competitive playing opportunity on the days prior to the opening of the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show.
The Pro-Pro Series events are open to two-player
teams of PGA Professionals from around the
country, who will compete in a Pro-Pro best-ball
format with an added purse. Scoring and rules are
administered by the North Florida PGA Section.
Each of the five events in the 2009 Pro-Pro Series
will feature up to 60 two-player teams, and all five
of the events will have 8 a.m. shotgun starts to
allow participating PGA Professionals to attend
other PGA Merchandise Show-related activities
later in the day.
Those teams will compete on five of the top
courses in the Orlando area. On Monday, Jan. 26,
Pro-Pro Series events will be held at RedTail
Format: Pro-Pro Best-Ball over 18 holes
Eligibility: All PGA members and registered
apprentices. Participants must be
registered for the 2009 PGA
Merchandise Show
Entry Fee: $100 per team; includes golf, golf
car, lunch and range balls; optional
$20 skins game at each event
Purse: Added $4,000 per event based on
full field
Field Limit: 60 two-player teams per event

between 100-year-old
oaks and over surprising elevation changes. Sugarloaf boasts the only Bill Coore/Ben Crenshaw-designed layout in Florida, which was named a
Golfweek Top 10 Best New Course for 2008.
Another pair of Pro-Pro Series events are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, with Harmony Golf
Preserve and Timacuan Golf & Country Club each
hosting an event. Harmony Golf Preserve is a Johnny
Miller design operated by Troon Golf, while
Timacuan boasts one of the most challenging holes
in the area – its par- 4 second hole was named the
toughest hole in the region by Orlando magazine –
and the course has won many statewide awards.
The fifth and final event of the 2009 Pro-Pro
Series is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Ginn
Reunion Golf Club. This upscale resort and club
near Walt Disney World Resort hosts the LPGA
Ginn Open and has tournament-ready conditions
and amenities for Pro-Pro Series participants. ■
